'Gentle Distance/Peculiar Indifference: The Looker’ is a photo series concerned with two concurring aspects of existence: presence in the moment, the now, and its opposite - remoteness; the feeling of being outside of something while still considering it.

Such tension has culminated into this series of 35mm photographs. Banal moments of transience documented aim to invoke reflection upon the nature of the mundane within the modern human experience, scrutinous focus placed on the relationship between the individual and liminal space both occupied and vacant. Hand-printed in an artifice-extenuating manner, the assemblage of present moments’ captured here seek to make a case for sentience.
